Hotels
January 18, 2017 by Deidra Alexander

On my way to New Orleans, I stayed in a less expensive hotel in order to save a little money. It seemed fine enough, except the carpet was sticky, there were no washcloths and no soap. The front desk clerk said they were out of soap, but I could have an extra packet of shampoo.
I slept with my coat on. I feel dirty and not in a good way.

Reminds me of a place I stayed, er tried to stay, in east Texas. Roaches crawling on the walls finally got me.

I hope you asked for an upgrade or moved to a new hotel. That’s a terrible way to treat a paying customer – no matter what they charge.

Ugh. I’ve been in places like that – sticky carpets are disgusting. Sometimes a cheap room just isn’t worth the savings. (My very worst ever was a place that had no heat, in February. I wound up sleeping – well, trying to sleep – in my coat, hat, and gloves.)

Nice for the start of a film or novel. Not so nice if you’re tired and just want a comfortable place to sleep.
Poor you!
I hope you can at least make it into a story to tell your grandchildren 😉

Love the photo you used to explain further. I’ve been there a time or two…you’re too tired to drive any further and you wind up sleeping with one eye open, your clothes on, and your licensed to carry under the pillow. Hate that!
YUCK!

Sounds like a place where you put a chair under the door and sleep with one eye open.

Who would stay in a cheap hotel in New Orleans?? Have your checked for bug bites?? I stayed in a very cheap motel in Berkeley, CA. The mattress was badly stained on both sides. It had air con powered by a gas unit that was leaky. The floor was sticky. We moved to a 5 star hotel on Pier 39 the next day. Then there was an earthquake and we had to vacate the room for a while… There is a moral in there, somewhere. LOL!

That was a very descriptive short, without being very descriptive. Everyone knew exactly what you were talking abut and could relate. I sure could. Nicely written!
