My Grandpa use to say itโs just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor man, but more difficult to leave.

Yep! My dad told me the same thing – only pertaining to women! Happy Father’s Day, Dad! Have yet to find that rich woman. Thanks for getting my hopes up! >.<

I read your quote to my wife this morning. She said, “What does that mean?” so I said, “It means it is a lot harder to give up the rich guy when times get bad, that is what I think it means?”
She thought about it a bit and then says … “Not me, I don’t want it all that bad.”
So much of the wisdom of our grandparents, their generation is now lost and gone for the most part.
I think back to these quotes and sayings of my grandparents often, and it always brings me peace and often puts a smile on my tired old face.
Thanks,
DS

In today’s society though, when you leave that type of relationship, you depart more “enriched” than when you started..

If you look for qualities rather than surface stuff, it’s guaranteed to work longer!

This is good! Cute photo to go along with it. I can’t help but think of the saying, Money can’t buy love. ?? Well, I tried a couple times with “poor” so I should try the rich next time. ๐

I’m married to a rich man…rich in love and life, in spirit, humor and kindness and I am rich, too. We don’t have a lot of money but the only way I will leave him is feet first. So your Gran was right. It is harder to leave…

So true. You don’t have to be filthy rich to be rich. The poor rich man is the best. I was married into comfort and money for years, and then we grew apart and lots of crap happened. He wasn’t filthy rich, but I was able to afford to stay home with my kids for twelve years and get to have some money to spend each month. It was nice. My cousin wanted to marry a rich man when she was younger. She vowed to marry a rich man that was going to take her to Paris. I was envious of her wanting to marry a rich man. She ended up becoming a teacher and marrying one.
