A while back I was invited to a party, at which I was the shortest person. In this mostly male crowd, I didn’t come above any of theirs armpits. I’m five two and they were all over six feet. I felt like I was in a forest of moving trees.
It seemed none of the guys quite knew what to do with the wee little one, as one guy described me. As alcohol was involved, eventually insufferable giant, Jaxx said, “She’s so little, I can just pick her up.” And he did.
I, of course, responded with my evil, narrow eyed, menacing, I’ll kick your ass look and said, “Put me down.”
To which he responded laughing, “Oh, the little one’s got a temper.”
He didn’t seem to realize my knee was now in a perfect position for permanent damage. We needn’t go further, he put me down.
wise guy 😉

I’m also 5’2 and get that ‘aww-look-at-her-she’s-so-adorable’ bit from others. Those who know me of course know better than to say that because a) they know I’m crazy and b) they know I’m crazy. Besides, I like to think of it as not being short, but as being vertically challenged.

I too have been bitten by the short bug. Daughter was a little short thing then she got taller. The only ones left that are shorter than me are my cousins – they are 4’9 and 4’11. I stand at 5’1 next to them I AM A TOWER 😉 Good for you and your fierceness!

I have 5’2 as well and I hate getting “babied” like that. Just because I am short does not mean I am a child too. For some reason people feel the need to treat me like I’m two when I am very capable of caring an adult conversation. I am twenty-one years old, don’t treat me like a child. I applaud your actions.

Well to tell the truth… It’s really a great feeling to carry a dolly.. but in a different manner not the same as your case…. then I say you should have done at least temporary damage rather than permanent… by controlling the force…

You should’ve given his balls a nice, hard, well-placed knee and then commented on his temper. I don’t know your relationship with this guy, but what kind of asshole calls himself “Jaxx?”
Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say thanks for liking my post. You’re the first person to ever “like” any of my entries. A strange post to like, but I guess I can’t say anything because I’m the one who wrote it.

I have a very small dog whom I love with all my heart. She may be small but has a heart of a lion. Some may call this a Napoleonic Complex but I call it Courage without the fear of Redemption. Respect the small ones and they will respect you. If you dont then be prepared to get bit in the ankles. I believe the same applies to humans as well.

Haha I’m 5’2 and almost that exact same thing happened to me a while ago… that some dude picked me up… seriously got scared when I thought wtf did you steal things from my mind?! Though, what I did was just play along and didn’t get hurt or anything since the dude was a friend.
Although this you-so-little isn’t wasn’t apart of my life until now. I’m in a new school and everyone’s much taller all of a sudden… Considering my personality (I’m not very I’m-so-little-and-cute-fluffy-wide-eyed-girl.. to say the least) everyone seems to get surprised that I’m so short and little when they first notice.
And then the you-so-little baby talking begins… That does not last long though… XD

I also have to say… I totally connect with this story. I am pushing 5 ft. 3 myself and have been there.
I married one of those treeish men and I get to look at his armpit daily… of course after 11 years of marriage and the addition of a few pounds I am no longer picked up as much. 🙂

A long time ago I used to date a girl who was around 4’2″ and had a temper more suited to a 7′ hockey enforcer. We were playing pool in a bar one night and one of the lads kept taking the mickey out of her struggling to make the “stretching” shots. She eventually turned around and planted one on his chin. He confessed to me later that it was the hardest he’d ever been punched in his life. She may have been small, but it’s amazing just how much gunpowder you can pack into a little package =)

Oh dear Lord, men picking you up is awful. I’m friends with a lot of tall men, but they all know that they would be hurting if they picked me up just for the hell of it. If someone picks you up in the context of hugging you, that’s different, but then I don’t let strangers hug me either.
