I have been known to nod off in long meetings in which the topic has little to nothing to do with me. I’ve invented a game to stay awake, the one line game. Here’s a few from yesterday:
I new insanity was pervasive here, I just didn’t realize it was contagious.
Blue reminds me of the ocean, crystal clear skies, calm summer days. I hate blue.
I had under estimated the creature I hunted and Paulo had paid for it with his life.
Moments like this are why I don’t keep chocolate in my desk.
The edge of anything is always a bad place to be.
And one for you to finish –
Somewhere an old brain cell must have fired up again when I remembered <fill in the blank>.
Until the next boring meeting.
I don’t blame you… I hate days filled with meetings – would rather just do my stuff than be bugged with someone’s boring chatter…

Especially when most of the meeting doesn’t apply to you.

Excellent idea for staying awake through meetings. I’ll try it. You have some great lines there.

Thanks. It keeps me awake and is a good writing exercise. I sometimes pick a topic, character or genre.

I wish I could draw. I would love to be an artist.

GREAT GAME! Every week I know this pain on a grand scale. I usually sketch pictures on the meeting notes to keep from nodding off.

Somewhere an old brain cell must have fired up again when I remembered “that I had a movie date after this boring work day”

I like it! Would work brilliantly for teleconferences – those are the worst!

I’m horrible for zoning out. I guess I figure if they aren’t talking about me, it’s not important, lol. For your line I’d say Somewhere an old brain cell must have fired up again when I remembered I’d left home with my slippers on!

Hahahaha!!! I love this. I am guessing you only think these sentences to yourself, in your mind? Would be hilarious if you said them out loud in the meeting of course. 😁

“Somewhere an old brain cell must have fired up again when I remembered” that plaid and polka-dots really shouldn’t be worn together.

I love this. I sit in meetings and basically see how much of different foreign languages (that I never became fluent in) I remember. I also love that the boss always looks at me with a little bit of fear mixed with irritation because I am the one that will burst his bubble in a meeting.
