The great thing about Christmas is you get to see relatives you rarely see the rest of the year. So it is with The Pistol and me.
I have a nephew I like to call “The Pistol”. I rarely see him so I have little influence on him, which makes his actions even more entertaining.
One of my other sisters tried to step in and be the twisted Aunt. (Don’t try this at home. I’m a trained professional.) She started calling the kid Pooter when he was a toddler.
One day she came in and he said, “Hi Aunt Pooter.”
My sister said, “I’m not Pooter, you are.”
He said, “I’m KayKay, you’re Aunt Pooter.”
And The Pistol was born.
To my sister – Out smarted by a two-year old, really?
The Pistol was bored this morning, so I opened Paint on the computer. Here’s his artwork enjoy. He’s five now.
Kid’s concept, Auntie Dee’s typing.
Love the illustration!!

This reminds me when my son was two. I was lecturing him on something and wrapped up with “You do what I say because I’m the mother and you’re the little boy! to which he replied. “No, I’m the mother and YOUR the little boy!
I can totally relate with Aunt Pooter.

Maybe it’s a good thing that most boys don’t have dolls: I don’t know if you’ve ever seen that famous photo of a little girl spanking her doll after she got spanked. Taking on the roles of the parents can almost be like the Stockholm syndrome… but then there’s the joy of modeling kindness that happens once in a while. Yikes, I hope you understand the analogy. Whatever you think I mean, I don’t mean that. I mean the other: whichever is best. No, no, no….

That child’s a caution! May he grow up to be a free spirit. The rigors of life sometimes tries to crush that spirit in us, starting in elementary school, waiting in lines, don’t talk, raise your hand, etc. It takes special people to survive that kind of brainwashing. I can tell you are very proud of The Pistol. All of my nieces and nephews are adults now. That makes me sad, but some of them are starting families and that makes me very happy! I never was blessed with children, so my siblings children and grandchildren mean so much to me. Sorry for the long comment!

How Cute! Reminds me of when my eldest son was small–he’s 30 now, his name is Michael–and at about 3 years old, his Great Grandpa nick-named him “Mickey”.
At the time, Michael didn’t understand nick-names and so began to call papa, “Papa Mickey”. The name stuck and forever after, everyone in the family called him “Papa Mickey”! He’s long gone now but we still refer to him in stories as “Papa Mickey”. Gotta love little kids!

Very fluent funny… hmm, then, there’s a charming side (from a distance) of the “terrible 2’s when kids learn to say “no”. Oh wait, sorry, you said 5. Ut oh. There are no bite marks and you have a wolf fence. Right?
