My house was built in 1964. The duck wallpaper doesn’t scream old-world, it screams strip me and the nineteen layer under me. At what point does dirt and dust turn the corner and become patina?
Furniture refinishing instructions have a step that goes something like this. Now rub the fake dirt on it so it looks old.
I think I’ll just wait for the real dirt. My problem, the real dirt never looks as good as the fake dirt.

Absolutely. I think that Patina is a product of our imagination. I had a heavilly patina’d Proton 1.5. I thought that all the tree sap on the roof gave it a certain rustic look. But my wife suddenly complained one day, “Why are we still driving around in this old wreck when we have a perfectly nice Toyota?”, and my son added, “Yeah, it’s like something from the Soviet bloc.” The Proton went to the scrap dealer. But I miss that patina.

I’m with you, I just can’t see getting something new specially cars to replace something perfectly functional. I’ll have to watch the sap!

I like your blog, so inviting. I look forward to reading more and taking in the beauty of your photos. Thanks for coming by my blog today. I wrote that last night after a wee bit too much wine. I vaguely remember posting it. This morning brought me a surprise. I did post with no edits and incorrect spelling and grammar. UGH. It takes a kind person to see the errors and still click like. 🙂 thanks

I have to say, while looking through hundreds of blogs daily, the theme of this blog is different (for all the proper reasons). If you do not mind me asking, what’s the name of this theme or would it be a especially designed affair? It’s significantly better compared to the themes I use for some of my blogs.

It’s just an ordinary theme. I just played around and I add a lot of images to my posts. Pictures brighten everything up.

The real issue is when you are considered old; look how long Betty White aged before she came back into fashion. I haven’t reached colorful character yet, and I my patina presently seems to lack aesthetic merit.

I’m not certain it ever does. I think we have a romanticized ideal that probably doesn’t exist. It’s manufactured.
